During goat yoga at LSU UREC, participants practice traditional yoga
while goats roam around and interact with them. The goats are known to
be playful and curious, and they often climb on participants, which adds
an element of fun to the practice. Goat yoga is not only a fun activity,
but it is also beneficial for mental and physical health. Yoga is known to
reduce stress and anxiety, improve flexibility and balance, and increase
mindfulness. Additionally, spending time with animals has been shown to
have therapeutic benefits, such as reducing stress levels and promoting
relaxation. The event allows students to practice yoga in a lighthearted
and enjoyable way; it’s the perfect remedy for connecting with others
and for relieving stress. “It’s hard to think about all the problems in your
life when you have a cute little goat on your back,” Margaret DeLaney
said. “Baby animals just make people really happy and release a lot
of endorphins. I would definitely recommend it for people who need
cheering up.”
